BAMS Full form is "Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery". It is an undergraduate medical course. BAMS course duration is 5½ years with the final year being a compulsory internship duration, students have to work as an intern in the areas assigned to them. BAMS is a different medical course, in which students are trained to treat the patients with only Ayurvedic medicine.

Ayurveda has been in India for more than thousands of years and has gained a lot of prominences here. Most of the diseases that can't be treated with western medicine can be treated with Ayurveda. As there is a lot of demand for Ayurveda medicine, there's a huge demand for BAMS course too. Many medical colleges provide BAMS degree and some of the colleges are set up especially for BAMS course where the  focus on the traditional medicine of India.

Students have to write entrance exams such as NEET, CET and score minimum marks to be eligible for admissions of BAMS course. Due to lack of availability of western medicine and Ayurveda being a very prominent course in India, hence scope is high for BAMS course.

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical Surgery is one of the medicinal courses and hence has a great value in India. The average BAMS course fees in India ranges from 25,000 to 3.2 Lakh
